CAMINO FRANCES: DAY 5

  • Blog

Fifth day of the route.

DAY 5  | 20,5 km | From Cizur Menor to Puente La Reina

The operation of Ordre de Malte Albergue in Cizur Menor is under the responsibility of Pedro, an amazing man who is dedicated to serve the pilgrims, as well as to the Order that he serves. He prepared and served breakfast to all the pilgrims and when it was time for us to leave he greeted us one by one and wished us a good way.

The landscape of Navarra after Cizur Menor has a plasticity which resembles to the Thracian terrain. We headed for "Alto de Pardon" the "Mountain of Forgiveness" and Pedro told us that the easy climbing gives pilgrims the opportunity to think over their own forgiveness and then to forgive others.

At the mountain, there has been built a complex of statues dedicated to the pilgrims of the past, present and future, where there has been written "Where the Wind Road Crosses the Stars", reminding pilgrims that they must experience the strong spiritual wind, which will hinder them on the way to Compostela.

After going down the mountain we passed by some beautiful medieval villages and reached Puente la Reina where we stopped for today.

[...]Blessed are you pilgrim, if what concerns you most is not to arrive, As to arrive with others[...]
