CAMINO FRANCES: DAY 3
Third day of our journey.
DAY 3 |
16km |
From Larrasoana to Pamplona
Today our journey was a little shorter, since we were walking for 16km along the Arga River to reach Pamplona. Of course, the strain of so much walking has caused us slight injuries. While walking, one often comes across limping pilgrims, nevertheless it is normal for the body to react in that way during the first few days!
To get into Pamplona one has to pass through its gates. Then, suddenly, is inside a medieval cityscape.
The albergue, where we found beds to spend the night , is a 16th-century Jesuit church, which since 2007 has been converted to a hostel for pilgrims.
The city is so beautiful that we decided to stay here for one more day. Therefore, tomorrow we will spend time relaxing along with exploring the city hosting the Festival of San Fermín, during which "the Running of the Bulls" takes place. The running of the bulls has become widely known by Hemingway and his book "The Sun Also Rises."
