GATE OF THE CITY OF SAINT JEAN PIED DE PORT

Today we enter the gate of the city of Saint Jean Pied de Port. A city from which we will begin our journey “2 The End Of The World”.

Saint Jean Pied de Port is a beautiful city on the Pyrenees in the land of Basque also is a starting point for the French Way Camino Francés.

It’s really hard to describe our current feelings and our excitement for tomorrow morning that we are going to begin the Camino.

As soon as we arrived we took our shells (The symbol of Camino) out of the pilgrimage office and further down was the cathedral church where we entered, at that time a priest read the pilgrims' prayer:

“Almighty God, you are always kind to the ones who love you and open to the ones who seek you with it, sincere heart.
Have mercy on your servants who are making this pilgrimage and lead their paths according to your will.

Be their shade in the heat of the day and be there relief when they get exhausted.
Grand them at the courage to accomplish their walk under your protection through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
May the Lord lead your way and take us to the salvation
May the Lord be always with us along the way
May the Lord help us to accomplish this pilgrimage which we begin in the faith”.

Tomorrow the Camino begins!
